When Brigid Woolnough started making chocolate as a hobby whilst on maternity leave from her teaching job, she had no idea she was creating what would quickly become a booming business.
Her obsession with European chocolate and her desire to share the finest quality chocolate with family and friends lead to Brigid undertaking a six week course at a chocolate school based in Melbourne. Armed with an entrepreneurial spirit and a passion for chocolate, Brigid began creating KOKOPOD Chocolates to be sold at local markets across Brisbane in winter. Before long, demand began to outweigh supply and wholesalers came knocking on the door.
KOKOPOD Chocolate pairs the best quality sustainable couverture chocolate from Switzerland with regional Australian produce, with a flavour range highlighting the uniqueness of Australia.
Now producing their chocolate by hand in a factory on the Sunshine Coast, the business has received many medals from Australian competitions and now boasts more than 50 stockists across the east coast of Australia.
But they won’t be stopping there, with Brigid saying they hope to grow in the near future.
“We hope to grow both nationally and internationally and want to have our brand recognised as a quality product, perfect for gifting,” said Brigid.
“Our handcrafted techniques ensure the best quality and our flavour pairings mean there’s an option for almost everyone.”
